The 6509 Discrete I/O Interface Box (P/N: BTS58287134A) is a versatile, configurable interface
unit designed to extend and condition the digital I/O capabilities of the NI-6509 96-channel
industrial DIO card.
The unit provides per-port configurable electrical behavior for discrete signals used in aerospace,
defense, simulation, and industrial automation environments.
Each 8-bit port may be configured via internal jumpers into one of the following operational modes:
• Discrete Input – 28V/Open
• Discrete Input – Open/GND
• Discrete Output – 28V/Open
• Discrete Output – Open/GND
This allows full flexibility in adapting the NI-6509 card to real-world discrete signal levels while
maintaining safe and reliable electrical conditioning.
ELECTRICAL CONFIGURATION
• 12 configurable ports (8 channels each) matching NI-6509 port structure.
• Per-port jumper-based selection of one of four discrete modes:
o DI 28V/Open
o DI Open/GND
o DO 28V/Open
o DO Open/GND
SIGNAL CONDITIONING
• Input channels protected via level translation and isolation.
• Output channels implemented via high-side or low-side drivers (depending on
configuration).
• Safe operation with 28V discrete avionics/industrial levels.
